The Student Support Services Department serves the parents, students and staff of Huntsville City Schools.  The department includes student support in the areas of enrollment, registration, attendance, discipline, student transfers, truancy and social services. Data on enrollment, attendance, and discipline incidents are tracked and reported to state and federal agencies as well as to the public.  In addition, the department assists parents and school personnel in interpreting policies and procedures that pertain to the areas included.

HCS Majority to Minority (M-to-M) Information

 

For the next two weeks, from July 21 through August 8, Huntsville City Schools will accept Online Applications for majority-to-minority transfers for the 2014-2015 school year. Following August 8, 2014, Huntsville City Schools will begin processing all applications received between July 21 and August 8. An interested parent or guardian may complete an Online Application for a majority-to-minority transfer on Huntsville City Schools’ website, (On-Line M-to-M Application Link Click Here) , using any computer with internet access, including their personal computers. Additionally, a parent or guardian may complete an application for a majority-to-minority transfer at Huntsville City Schools’ Office of Student Support Services at the Annie Merts Center located at 200 White Street, at his or her child’s school, or using a computer at one of the City of Huntsville’s public libraries. Any parent or guardian needing assistance with a majority-to-minority application may contact the Office of Student Support Services at (256) 428-6890.

 

 ·         A parent or guardian who already has accepted a majority-to-minority transfer for the 2014-15 school year should not reapply.

 

 ·         If a parent or guardian who previously applied for a majority-to-minority transfer for the 2014-15 school year and if that application was not granted, the parent or guardian may reapply for a majority-to-minority transfer.

 

 ·         A parent or guardian of a student who is new to Huntsville City Schools and who is interested in applying for a majority-to-minority transfer for the 2014-15 school year should contact Huntsville City Schools’ Office of Student Support Services at (256) 428-6890 for assistance in completing an application.

 

 ·         If a parent or guardian previously applied for a majority-to-minority transfer for the 2014-15 school year, that application was granted, but the parent or guardian did not accept the transfer, he or she may not reapply.
