The interscholastic athletic program provided in the Huntsville City Schools shall be restricted to grades 7 through 12. In keeping with the philosophy of the Huntsville City Schools Board of Education that the primary goal of all school programs should be the development of worthy citizens, the interscholastic athletic program in the Huntsville City Schools shall be planned to provide opportunities for all students to develop a sense of fair play, exercise responsibility, and demonstrate good sportsmanship. The Board encourages participation by all students in appropriate extra-curricular activities.

Our department is located in the Merts Building at 200 White Street, Room 107. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Huntsville City Schools are members of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Our students may participate in the following sports:

• Fall Sports: Cheerleading; Cross-Country Track; Football; Swimming and Diving; and Volleyball.
• Winter Sports: Basketball; Indoor Track; and Wrestling.
• Spring Sports: Baseball; Golf; Outdoor Track; Soccer; Softball; and Tennis.
• Middle School Sports: Basketball; Cheerleading; Football; Track; and Volleyball.
