The Huntsville City School System is one of the premier school districts in the state of Alabama. Our school system has 29 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and 7 high schools, providing services for more than 23,000 students.
As indicated in our Mission Statement, we strive to provide our graduates with the capacity to compete successfully and contribute responsibly to today’s society. Our dedicated teachers and administrators work hard to help each student achieve his or her best.
In addition to our regular curriculum, we offer a variety of magnet programs, including:
- Creative and Performing Arts
- Pre-engineering
- International Education
- Science and Foreign Language
- Academy of Academics and Arts
- The Huntsville Center for Technology provides world-class, skilled technical training for high school students preparing to go to colleges/universities or entering the workforce. The adult night program provides skills training required to meet the needs of local businesses and industries.
We also have several ROTC programs, including:
- Army ROTC at Grissom and Lee High School
- Marine ROTC at J.O. Johnson High School
- Air Force ROTC at Butler and Huntsville High School
We offer additional mentoring for our Title One schools through the Camp Success Program – an after-school program that assists students with academics, technology education, college prep activities, and tutoring.
At Huntsville City Schools, we strive for excellence in education, and we work to develop each student’s skills and abilities. I encourage you to visit our system and learn, first-hand, all that Huntsville City Schools has to offer.
