Welcome back to
a new school year! We have a great year planned
with exciting learning experiences. In Math we
are solving story problems, identifying ordinal
numbers, creating patterns, graphs, and reviewing
addition facts. In Social Studies we have finished
our unit called, Our Country's Land. Our students
have learned to identify landforms and water bodies
of the world. In English we are learning to identify
sentences and write sentences. Our students should
practice reading passages which are sent home
each week. Parents, it is important to have your
child read to you each night to increase fluency
and comprehension. By the end of second grade
your child needs to read 90 words per minute to
be on grade level. We want all of our students
to achieve this goal. Parents, please read our
weekly newsletter and homework sheet to know what's
going on in second grade!!! Sincerely,
Mrs.
Greenleaf, Mrs. Dixon, Mrs. Doughty Jones &
Ms. Roberts
