About Morris

Louis J.Morris Elementary School is located in the southwestern section of Bob Wallace Avenue.  The school site is located on twenty-one acres of land leased to the Huntsville Board of Education for the sum of the one dollar for ninety-nine years.  Louis J. Morris is surrounded by cultural activities; on its eastern border, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens and on its western border, the Alabama Space and Rocket Center.
The school opened in 1958 as Madison Pike Elementary.  It was renamed Louis J. Morris Elementary in 1976 in memory of the school's first principal.
A significant change in the school's population occurred in 1990 with the rezoning of Redstone Arsenal children to Williams Elementary School.  Morris' population has remained unchanged since 1990.
