Register for 2010– 2011 Kindergarten starting March 11th:
If you have a child who will enter Kindergarten this fall, please register as soon as possible so Huntsville City Schools can provide adequate numbers of teachers. Please let your neighbors know, too. Early registration allows your child to participate in our Kindergarten for a Day program.

The Alabama State Department of Education requires the following for a child to be officially enrolled in Kindergarten:

1. The child’s family must live in Hampton Cove Elementary School zone and provide a signed lease or deed/mortgage/letter from property manager and a recent utility or phone bill addressed to parent/guardian at the address in school zone (two different proofs).

2. A child must have original birth certificate and turn five on or before September 2. To enter first grade, child must turn six on or before September 2. A school is not permitted to make decisions about grade placement. The school will make a copy of this.

3. The child must have current Alabama immunizations for Diphtheria, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, 2nd dose of MMR, Tetanus, Pertussis, and Varicella or immunity to chicken pox. The school must keep this “blue card” on file.

4. According to the Alabama State Department of Education resolution 12-8-88, the child must have a valid social security number and card. The school will make a copy and keep in a secure file. The number is not used as a student number or for any other routine identification.

5. Emergency contact names and phone numbers are helpful at registration and required when school begins, in case a child is hurt or sick. We ask that the numbers be updated when changes occur so that a parent can be contacted.

All items must be complete before a student will be enrolled and assigned a teacher for the upcoming school year.
