
On September 13, 2007, Lincoln Elementary School received a monetary reward from the Alabama State Department of Education. The resolution was awarded to Lincoln Elementary for Meeting the Challenge,
Advancing the Challenge and Exceeding the Challenge.
Lincoln's principal,
Mrs. Christy Jensen, accepted the award for
Lincoln Elementary.
 
MEETING THE CHALLENGE
Schools that meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two consecutive years
ADVANCING THE CHALLENGE
School in which percent of students scoring advanced in reading and math exceeded state percent scoring advanced.
EXCEEDING THE CHALLENGE
Schools with a subgroup whose students scoring proficient in reading and math exceeded its state counterpart.    

 
LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECEIVES 2007-2008 TORCHBEARER AWARD
Nine Alabama public schools from across the state received the prestigious title of Torchbearer School and a $15,000 monetary reward during a recognition program January 29, 2008. Torchbearer Schools are high-poverty public schools that have overcome the odds to become high-performing schools. With this recognition, Torchbearer Schools will shine their light as examples of places of learning exhibiting exemplary service and dedication in overcoming adversity in student achievement. Each Torchbearer School will continue focusing on its specific goals and challenges.
