Mission

   The mission of Morris Elementary School, a culturally diverse school community, recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education as an award-winning center of student success, is to ensure that every student will reach his highest learning potential and establish foundations for further educational experiences through technologically advanced, individualized teaching and learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

Louis J. Morris Elementary School is located in the southwestern section of Bob Wallace Avenue. The school site is located on twenty-one acres of land leased to the Huntsville Board of Education for the sum of the one dollar for ninety-nine years. Louis J. Morris is surrounded by cultural activities. On the school's eastern border is the Huntsville Botanical Gardens and on its western border, the Alabama Space and Rocket Center.

The school opened in 1958 as Madison Pike Elementary. It was renamed Louis J. Morris Elementary in 1976 in memory of the school's first principal.
