I am Sandra Faint, Monte Sano Elementary School's reading coach. My job is to support our principal, teachers, students and parents in the area of reading.
My teaching career began in 1978 when I graduated from the University Of Alabama (Roll Tide). I have a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master Degree in Elementary Education, and a Class A (Master Level) Reading Specialist certification. I currently have 126 hours of extensive training in the Alabama Reading Initiative. My classroom experience consists of teaching in grades pre-kindergarten through 5 th . This is my third year as reading coach at Monte Sano.
My family consists of a husband, Darrell, two sons, Jonathan and Josh, and two dogs, Pearl and Crimson. Darrell and I have been married for 27 wonderful years. Jonathan, our oldest son is a freshman at THE University of Alabama (Roll Tide again) and Josh, our youngest son is a freshman at Huntsville High School. Our family enjoys football, baseball, fishing, and golfing.
Teaching reading has always been a passion for me. In 2002 I began my journey to become a Reading Coach with the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) training. Success with ARI strategies in my second grade classroom at Blossomwood Elementary motivated me to go back to college and earn my Reading Specialist certification, which I completed in May 2005.
