We, the faculty, staff and administrator of University Place Elementary School believe the following are necessary for students to be productive members of society:
- All students can learn when each student is recognized as a valued individual with unique intellectual, physical, social, cultural, and emotional needs
- School objectives are based upon the premise that learning is a life long process with student learning as the chief priority of our school and includes such concepts as character education, problem solving, community service, and an appreciation of our democratic way of life.
- Parents, teachers, staff, administrators, students, and community members should share the responsibility for providing a supportive learning environment with clear goals and high expectations for student achievement.
- Educators should use research-based instructional practices by providing learning opportunities with innovative and various educational programs while utilizing appropriate materials, current teaching methods, and modern technology to accomplish curriculum objectives.
- Student assessments are vital to guide instructional strategies, implement learning activities, and monitor student progress.
- Educators should possess and practice high ethical and professional standards.
