Computer Lab Technician

The Computer Lab Technician is responsible for the entire elementary school's computer system. She supplies the elementary school with technical services and assistance to the administration, faculty, and staff. At the same time, she maintains the hardware, software, does one on one training, inventory, and serves as webmaster for our school.

The Computer Lab Technician networks all the computers, installs software, troubleshoots and repairs the hardware and software.

School Technology Leader

The School Technology Leader is a certified teacher that is responsible for all technology training. This training includes the utilization and integration of hardware, software and social networking tools.

The School Technology Leader is also responsible for technology training on the Technology Course of Study and any other training that might be requested by the faculty.

Our Computer Lab is a multimedia center that focuses on technology integration for the classroom. The Lab is situated for grades K-5. The Lab contains equipment necessary to achieve the Alabama Course of Study: Technology Education Standards. We have 30 Pentium 4 and Pentium D Gateway Computers, 1 laser printer, 1 inkjet printer, laptop, projector, and scanner. We have software that enriches the minds of all of our students here at J. E. Williams Elementary. Our software consists of STAR Reading, Accelerated Reader, STAR Math, Read, Write and Type, Mavis Beacon, Harcourt Math, Microsoft Paint, Adobe Reader, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office XP and 2003, Google Earth, and a host of other free online educational software.

We have equipment in the classrooms to be used to achieve the Technology Standards. This equipment includes 1-4 computers, a laptop and projector for each grade level, 4 Activboards, 2 Elmos, 6 digital cameras, 4 digital video cameras, 8 webcams, all-in-one printers, scanners, 9 smart TVs, converters, and presenters.

Classrooms also have software that enriches the minds of our students. This software consists of STAR Reading, Accelerated Reader, STAR Math, Accelerated Math (5th grade), Read, Write and Type, Mavis Beacon, Harcourt Math, Microsoft Paint, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Office 2000, XP, 2003, 2007 and open office, Google Earth, a host of other free online educational software and software the teachers have purchased.
