The Big Backyard was started by one of our teachers, Mrs. Patti Lovejoy McKee, in 1997.  At first, there was just an empty piece of land.  Now we have an outdoor classroom, vegetables, fruits, sunflowers, and even a Secret Garden where children can come to read.

The Big Backyard is a wonderful place to live.  Children visit almost every day and there are many places to explore.  Teachers bring them here to work, to read, and just to enjoy all that there is to see and do
