SPACE teacher is

SPACE - Special Programs for Academic and Creative Excellence
Any child in grades two through eight in the city school system will be considered for placement in the SPACE program if they meet the criteria of the State of Alabama. Some of the goals of the SPACE program are:
- To increase breadth and variety of information and experience
- To promote self direction in :planning, independent study, problem solving, critical and creative thinking skills.
- To help each student develop the attitudes and skills necessary to interact acceptably and comfortably with others.
The curriculum is
organized around the Multiple Talents Approach developed by Calvin Taylor.
These talents include productive thinking, forecasting, decision making,
planning, communication, in addition to the academics.
