INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

 

LIBRARIANS:                                 Mrs. Janice Mann and Ms. Kathy Staggs

 

USE OF THE LIBRARY:               NO FOOD OR DRINK – NO ELECTRONICS (CELL PHONES, iPODS…)

Before school (7:10 – 8:00 a.m.)

After school (until 3:45 p.m.)

With a class as scheduled by the teacher

At ALL times during the school day, students must have a written a pass from a teacher

 

LOAN PERIODS:                            Three weeks for most books.

Overnight for reference books, magazines, vertical files and books designated reserve.

 

FINES & OVERDUES:                   $.10 per day for regular materials (excluding weekends and school holidays)

Maximum fine of $5.00 per item

 

COPY MACHINE:                          Copies are $.10 each. Black and white only

 

COMPUTER PRINTOUTS:          $.10 per page; disks and flash drives will be subject to virus protection scan. No color printing.

 

NEWSPAPER ARTICLES:           Newspaper articles for current event and health assignments may be cut free of charge from copies of the Huntsville Times available in the library until 8:00am Friday.

 

LIBRARY COMPUTER NETWORK:     The Library collection is cataloged on the InfoCentre circulation system network. (InfoCentre is used in all Huntsville City School libraries.) 

 

DATABASES RECOMMENDED FOR USE AT HOME:

 

GALE Discovering Collection – Paid for by the Grissom PTSA.  Information in all subject areas that may be accessed from school or home.

 

Alabama Virtual Library:  Students may access the AVL from any school or public library and from home computers with an AVL card issued by the school or the Huntsville /Madison County Public Library.
