COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Syllabus for Spanish I

This is a basic foreign language course which offers a balanced approach to acquiring the skills needed to advance to the second level of learning.  Written, aural, and oral abilities in the language are essential functions emphasized and required of each student, as well as a general knowledge of the culture and geography of the Hispanic peoples.

Nine weeks grades are bases on student’s total number of points.  The more important the test, the higher the point value will be.  Chapter tests, vocabulary tests, oral dialogues, pop quizzes, notebook and homework checks all figure into the total number of points.  Students also have the opportunity to receive extra points by sharing Hispanic current events and attending early morning tutoring sessions.  These sessions are held on Tuesday mornings from 7:25 until 7:50 unless there is a Monday holiday.  Our text is En Español I.

Syllabus for Spanish II

Students will continue to develop communication skills in Spanish and become more proficient in listening, reading, speaking and writing in Spanish and in the knowledge of the culture of Spanish speaking countries.  Students will use appropriate idiomatic expressions needed for everyday topics, understand verb, memorize vocabulary, construct sentences, and write paragraphs.  Grading procedures are the same as in Spanish I.  Our text is En Español II.
