Students will continue to develop communication skills in Spanish and
become more proficient in listening, reading, speaking and writing in Spanish
and in the knowledge of the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Needed Supplies:

Students need a three-ring binder with a pocket for this class. We will have lots of handouts which you are
to keep in your notebook. You need to
bring this notebook to class with you every day. Keep it organized. Also, you will need to make sure to have
lined notebook paper with you each day (at least 2-3 pages per day).
VII. Grading/Assessments:

Cumulative
point system, i.e. Points earned ÷ possible points = grade

Grades will be based on speaking points/class participation,
assignments, vocabulary quizzes, etapa
quizzes, unit
tests, and various projects.
Ä
Frequent vocabulary quizzes will be given. It is your responsibility to prepare for
these quizzes.
Ä
Speaking Points/Class Participation points will be awarded for oral
participation in Spanish. Lots of
opportunities will be given to earn speaking points. Likewise, points can be lost by coming to
class without book, paper, pen, etc. or by disruptive behavior that hinders
learning in the classroom.

Make up tests are given before school never during class. Students have the responsibility for
scheduling
makeup tests promptly. Students should
arrive at

Comprehensive exams are given at the end of each semester, counting as
1/5 of semester grade.

A major project on Spanish
painters. The students will research and
learn about the importance of art in Spanish speaking countries.
In addition to the text we
will be viewing a video series entitled La Catrina. The students will keep a journal of events,
vocabulary and expressions. The purpose
of these series is to increase comprehension and exposure to the language.

requires constant practice of the language. It is essential that students
attend class in order to receive maximum exposure to the language and to
participate actively on a regular basis.

First draft is returned with errors

Students are to make corrections and
