General Scholarships

AASOP District II $500.00 non-renewable NEED based scholarship. The postmark deadline for this application is March 27, 2009. Criteria: financial need, 3.5 GPA, ACT Composite Score of 18 or better/or equal SAT score, community service. Requirements: graduating seniors only, submit transcript with application, three letters of recommendation, 300-400 word essay explaining your financial need.

ACT Poster Contest - You can win scholarship money for college by designing a poster. ACT is conducting a Poster Concept Contest and the winners will be awarded scholarship money to attend the college of their choice. AES Engineers believe that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character. To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions, found at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Amount of award: $500.00 Deadline: October 8, 2010

Alabama Association of School Office Personnel Scholarship - For students pursuing a degree in business or k-12 education. Must attend an accredited school in AL. See Ms. Hall for application.

ALCARH is a non-profit organization in Alabama that serves as an advocate for development, management, financing, and ownership of affordable housing. This scholarship program strives to enable the state's youth with the best college education in order to better themselves and our great state.

American Cancer Society Scholarship-If you are a senior who had a diagnosis of cancer before the age of 19 and would be interested in applying for a scholarship from the American Cancer Society, see Ms. Hall for more information. The deadline to apply is 2/10/10.

Army ROTC Scholarships These are not small scholarships, they cover ALL TUITION, $1200 a year book allowance and a $300 monthly stipend increasing to $500 by the time they are seniors. See Ms. Hall for details.

Athlete of the Year one senior outstanding athlete with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and a history of academic accomplishments as well as community/civit involvement will be nominated for scholarships. If you would like to be considered or would like additional information please see Ms. Hall.

Bernard Curtis Brown II Memorial Space Camp Scholarship 5-day program for students grades 6-9 where students will learn about space, space travel and space exploration. They also learn what it takes to become an astronaut. See Ms. Hall for application and more information.

BigSun Scholarship is offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Deadline: June 24, 2010. Amount of Award: $500.00 See Ms. Hall for information.

100 BMOA Scholarship The 100 Black Men of America (BMOA) Inc. Greater Huntsville Chapter (GHC) provides scholarship awards to individuals who maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 point system; scholarships are provided to individuals on an equal opportunity basis regardless of race, sex, creed, or religious preference. Completed Scholarship Application Packages must arrive in the Greater Huntsville Chapter's post office box no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2010.

Christopher Columbus Followship Foundation, 1st Annual Agricultural Awards If you are interested in being nominated for the Agriscience Student Award (three $5000 scholarships) see Ms. Hall for nomination information. Deadline 4/6/10

UAW CAP Council sponsors a scholarship program specifically for Senior High School students. A total of four scholarships are awarded among eligible students. See Ms. Hall for requirements and other information.

Coca-Cola Scholars if you are a truly motivated, dedicated, involved high school senior, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is awarding $3 million a year in scholarships to 250 deserving students just like you. Apply online today. A few minutes of your time could help get you through college and beyond. Deadline to reveive completed applications: October 31. Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program requires a grade point average of 2.8 or higher, demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences, strong commitment to and involvement in community service, and must plan to attend an accredited, non profit college, universtiy, or vocational/technical school in the United States. Employees of Comcast, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their families are not eligible. Only one senior from each high school may be nominated to apply for this award.

2010 UCB Crohn's Scholarship Program - UCB, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company committed to developing innovative treatments for inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease, is dedicated to creating unique programs and tools to aid Crohn's patients in reaching beyond the boundaries of their disease and fulfilling their educational ambitions. This award is a one-time scholarship of up to $10,000. In 2010, 30 scholarships will be awarded to individuals diagnosed with Crohn's disease. See Ms. Hall for requirements and application.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Huntsville Alumnae Chapter Scholarship Committee Scholarships are avaliable to African American high school seniors attending high schools in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County who plan to attend Alabama A&M University, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Drake State Technical College or Calhoun Community College as a full-time student. The minimum GPA requirements for all applicatns is 3.0. Dependent children of university employees who receive a tuition waiver are not eligible for these awards. See Ms. Hall for application.

Delta Tau Delta Fraternity is offering three $1,000 scholarships awarded to male and female students who will excel in scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service. Must apply online at www.delts.org/about/committed.html

The Du Midi Women's Club of Huntsville will grant a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student. See Ms. Hall for application.

E. H. Wilbourn Scholarship Madison County Education Retirees Association is pleased to announce that a scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who plans to pursue a career in education. This scholarship is in the amount of $750.00 tuition assistance per year, for four years.

2010 enGenius, Inc. Scholarship is seeking applications from high school seniors who plan to pursue a science related career at the post-secondary level. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 2010 High School Graduate of Huntsville City or Madison County Schools, Plan to continue their education in a science related field such as (engineering or Information Technology), Demonstrate a financial need, GPA "C" or better, 200 word essay stating your future goals and how this scholarship will help you to achieve those goals. English Language Learners Scholarship Seniors who learned English as a Second Language are eligible for the $3,000 scholarship. See Ms. Hall if you are interested.

Executive Women International The Huntsville Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI) is pleased to announce its Fifteenth Annual Scholarship Program. This program awards college scholarship to high school JUNIORS, both male and female, whose career plans include a four-year degree in any field of study. See Ms. Hall for additional information.

Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theatre has announced two scholarships for qualifying seniors interested in drama. See Ms. Hall for information or Mrs. Marsh in the drama department.

Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3263 Scholarship Committee Ten ($1,000) non-renewable, need based scholarships. Deadline April 15, 2010. Must have a 2.5 GPA minimum, ACT of 18 or better (or equal SAT), leadership and community service. See Ms. Hall for additional requirements.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is pleased to announce its second annual "Freedom in Academia" student essay contest. High school seniors from across the U.S. are invited to write an in-depth essay explaining why free speech and First Amendment rights are crucial to higher education and how abuses of these rights harm the college experience. The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Foundation and the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association Women's Council are now accepting scholarship applications from any person who is pursuing and education in a building industry related field. Deadline: Friday - February 26, 2010. For application see Ms. Hall or visit www.buildersassn.org.

Jim Black Memorial Scholarship If a student attended Lincoln Elementary School for a minimum of three years, he or she will receive $50 when they graduate with their class from high school and if they enter college or any post secondary school. See Ms. Hall if you qualify.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Schoarship annually renewable up to $5,000 per year. You may be eligible to be considered if you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Online application avaliable Dec. 1, 2009 deadline Feb. 17, 2010.

John L. Cashin, SR. Scholarship will be awarded to freshmen entering college for the first time. Applicants must be citizens, must complete all parts of the application and insure that all materials supporting his/her application are returned or postmarked by April 18, must score no less than 15 on the ACT or equivalent score on the SAT, must have no less than a B average upon graduation (official copy of high school transcript required), and 3 letters of recommendation from individuals who have no family ties and a recommendation from the school counselor. Junior Achievement: Carmen Gum Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 which will be paid directly to the college or university school of the recipients' choice within the JA of North America service area. KFC Colonel's Scholars Program up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Student must be: graduating from high school this academic year, maintaining a min. high school GPA of 2.75 or higher, pursuing a bachelor's degree, and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Deadline: February 10, 2010. See Ms. Hall for more information.

Lillian Artist, Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs - For female high school senior with financial need. Scholarship is merit based. See Ms. Hall for application. Deadline: 3/20/10

The Linly Heflin Scholarship Committee grants four year scholarships in the amount of $3000 per year tjo a limited number of Alabama women who have both significant economic need and a sound academic record. Requirements: Scholarships are restricted to four year Alabama, SACS accredited, colleges, the minimum requirement for the ACT score is 23, Alabama resident and U.S. citizen, financial need, and academic proficiency. The completed application form and supporting documents must be mailed to our office and postmarked by January 15, 2010. See Ms. Hall for detals.

LogiCore Corporation announces the Miranda Bouldin Scholarship Fund. Four nonrenewable scholarships of $1,500 and 4 Inspiron laptops. Must commit to attend a 4-year Alabama College or University Designed to bridge gap between financial aid granted and recipient's need. See Ms. Hall for more info. Deadline: 4/9/10.

Mended Hearts Scholarship - 4 $500 scholarships for students going into a medical field, including pre-med, nursing, and medican technician. Criteria: Financial need, minimum of 2.5 GPA, minimum ACT of 18. See Ms. Hall for application.

NAECU North Alabama Educators - see Ms. Hall for application. Deadline: April 1, 2010.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are non-renewable scholarships created to recognize young people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit/initiative valued $10,000. For additional information or to apply, visit http://www.NFIB.com/YEA. Applications may be submitted until December 31, 2009. An essay will be required for semi-finalists.

2010 Oh, the Places You'll Go! First place: 5,000. Applicants must be 12th-grade high school students graduating spring 2010, age 21 years or under. See Ms. Hall for an application or visit www.ohtheplaces.org. Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2010 and mailed to Oh, the Places You'll Go! College Scholarship Program.

Presbyterian College Fellow Program 2010 A recognition and scholarship program for talented high school juniors. See Ms. Hall for more info.

PTA Scholarship The Huntsville Council of PTAs awards up to fourteen $500 scholarships -- two scholarships per high school in the Huntsville City School System. Scholarships are awarded to Huntsville City School seniors who plan to pursue higher education at any accredited institute of higher learning including vocation and trade schools as well as two-year and four-year universities.

Redstone Arsenal Chapter, International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) will award a scholarship of $500.00 to one graduating high school senior. Merit awards may apply toward tuition, books and fees for undergraduate or graduate level studies. Deadline: March 31, 2010. For more information and/or a scholarship application, contact Elise C. Redstone Arsenal Officer and Civilian Women's Club Merit Award for a graduating senior of active duty, retired or deceased service memeber, with "active duty" being defined as active duty regular service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines etc) and or Reserve or National Guardsmen activated during the time frame that applications are made avaliable until the award ceremony and primary residence is within 50 mile radius of Redstone Arsenal. RFCU Scholarship Program Beginning December 1, 2009, Redstone Rederal Credit Union will be accepting Scholarship Applications for Fall 2010. The entry deadline is March 1, 2010. The Credit Union will award ten $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing a higher education. There will be one scholarship awarded from each of these six schools: Alabama A&M University, J.F. Drake State Technical College, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Oakwood University, Calhoun Community College, and Athens State University. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program - Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are interested in applying for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program at the Space and Rocket Center may ask for an application from Ms. Hall. Participants are selected based on academic achievements, school activities, community service, hobbies, and recreational interests. This program takes place from January 28-30, 2010 and includes a mini-space camp as well as leadership training and team building activities. Two students from the Huntsville area will be chosen to attend. See Ms. Hall for an application if you are interested.

Smith Scholarship Foundation- For deserving Alabama students who are "First in Family" to attend college. Must have a c+ to apply. Deadline: Jan. 15, 2010 For more information see Ms. Hall or visit www.smithscholarships.com

The Soroptomist organization is looking for girls between the ages of 14-17 who make a difference by volunteering in the community or school. If you fit this description, please see Ms. Hall for an application to apply for a $500 cash award. This deadline to apply is December 22.

Space Camp Scholarship Program The Army Community Service Volunteer Space Camp Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 25th annual SPACE CAMP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM open to children who reside within a 50 mile radius of Redstone Arsenal, whose parents are active-duty, retired military members, and Guard or Reserve members who served on active-duty status at any point during the 12 months prior to the March 13 application deadline. Additional criteria must be met as outlined on the application. See Ms. Hall if you are interested.

USA/MAES STEM Scholarship $2,500 completed scholarship applications and all other required materials must be postmarked no later than March 22, 2010. USA/MAES STEM Scholarship Selection Committee will recommend 20 top-scoring applicants to USA representatives. USA representatives will select the 10 recipients based on those recommendations. Applicants must be intending to pursue college degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines, must be a well-rounded student with involvement in academic and extracurricular activities, have a milimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, taken the SAT or ACT, and must provide proof of enrollment in a college or university prior to receipt of the scholarship award monies. Stonewall Jackson Memorial Fund Repayable Scholarship Program - Repayable, no interest loans are avaliable for high school seniors based upson the submission of an essay on a topic or issue that relates to the life of Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
1st place essay: $3,000;

2nd place essay: $2,000;
3rd place essay: $1,000.

2010 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering one $4,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships, and four $500 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. No minimum ACT/SAT score or GPA, no essay required, no lengthy application forms, and no application fees required. College Specific Scholarships

Alabama A&M University:

John Stallworth Foundation Scholarship Requirements: Plan to attend Alabama A&M, have a minimum GPA of 3.3, and ACT score of 21. See Ms. Hall for application.

Students planning to attend Alabama A&M University who have at least a GPA of 2.5, financial need and record of community service are eligible for the Annie L. King Memorial Scholarship. See Ms. Hall for an application.

AAMU ROTC Scholarship 100% Tuition and Fees, 100% Room and Board, $1200 per year for books, $300-$500 per month stipend, Guaranteed Job after Graduation. See Ms. Hall for specific requirements.

24 ACT & a 3.0 GPA The Board of Trustee Award - $1,000 for Freshman Year
For more details about scholarships for top students see auburn.edu/scholarship. Auburn Colleges award their own freshman scholarships and students need to check the requirements for these with admissions representatives or at the Web site.

Auburn University:

Auburn College of Sciences and Mathematics - offers scholarships to freshmen accepted into the college who have a minimum of a 28 ACT/1240-1310 SAT combined reading and math score. You must complete the application at auburn.edu/cosam/scholar.html.
2009 Auburn Pulp and Paper Foundation (APPF) Engineering Scholarship The APPF offers undersraduate academic scholarships for students attending Auburn University and specializing in one of the pulp, paper & bio-resource options in chemical, electrical or mechanical engineering. New National Science Foundation (NSF) Scholarship. See Ms. Hall for details.
Auburn University Department of Chemical Engineering awards approximately 25 Freshman Merit Scholarships which provide up to $1.500 each for the 2010-2011 school year. Students must specify Pre-Chemical Engineering as their major on their Auburn application to be eligible for our departmental scholarships. Applicants should return forms and transcripts as soon as possible, but no later than January 15, 2010. Click here to print the scholarship application.
Huntsville/Madison County Auburn Club Scholarship provides two semesters of tuition at Auburn University and is awarded each year to four students from Madison County. It is awarded on the basis of academic excellence, community leadership, and financial need. The prerequisites for application include:

Berea College - If you meet these qualifications please see Ms. Hall: Average annual family income of$50,000 or less, Rank in the top 20% of their class, ACT Composite of 20-30, SAT of 1410-1980, Commitment to service.

Berea College To be honored as a 2009 Pinnacle Scholar, a candidate must demonstrate a significant accomplishments in one of the following areas: science, music, and service. Students should be from families with a combined household income of less than $50,000 annually. Deadline is September 8, 2009 so if you are interested please see Ms. Hall ASAP!

Boston College Presidential Scholars Program attracts students of outstanding talent and character who strive to become leaders with integrity and vision. 15 full-tuition scholarships renewable for 4 years based upon demonstrated academic merit. Guaranteed to meet full need for 4 years. Honors Program that provides an integrated liberal arts education in small seminar style classes. Fully-funded summer internships, travel and service programs. Candidates must apply by the Early Action deadline of November 1. See Ms. Hall if you are interested.

Boston University announces the 35th Annual Trustee Scholarship Competition a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to BU. Deadline: December 1, 2009. For more information: www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee.

Carnegie-Mellon University awards ½ tuition merit based scholarships for students planning to major in computer science, engineering, the fine arts, information systems, the liberal arts or the sciences. Students are considered on the basis of their admission application.

University of Dayton - If you are interested in attending there are scholarships avaliable. See Ms. Hall.

Davidson - The Bryan Scholarship recognizes outstanding scholar athletes attending- and playing their sport for- Davidson. Two awards, valued at $30,000 annually, are offered to one female and one male athlete in each entering class. If you are interested in getting more information and/or being nominated please see Ms. Hall. Deadline: October, 15 2009.

Davidson - The Belk Scholarship, Davidson's flagship merit scholarship program, is for those students who have reached the highest order of academic and personal accomplishment. Emory University - Goizueta Scholars Program for students with a strong interest in business. This program is small and highly selective. In addition to seeking students with superior academic credentials, successful nominees will have a demonstrated interest in business, as evidenced by engagement in entrepreneurial activities, participation in internships, membership in business clubs, and/or involvement in business-related conferences, competitions, and similar offerings. Leadership and community service are also important components in the selection process, and condidates who bring diverse perspectives and backgrounds are of special interest. See Ms. Hall if you are interested in being considered for nomination.

University of Evansville Acedemic - Awards range from $6,500 to $13,500 per year based on the strength of high school curriculum, grades, SAT-1/ACT scores, and recommendations.

University of Evansville American Corporate Scholars - Scholarships for students who intend to major in business. Students will receive a minimum $12,500 annual scholarship.

University of Evansville Cultural Diverstiy Award - Scholarships for students who demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity. This scholarship is avaliable to all students with selection based upom academic record, student leadership, and community involvement. Awards range from $6,500 to $13, 500 per year.

University of Evansville Dean Scholarship - Sixty-seven to seventy-five percent tuition for students in the top five percent of their class at the time of application. For schools who do not rank, students must have a high school GPA of 4.0 and score 27 or higher on the ACT or 1800 or higher in the SAT.

University of Evansville Fine/Performing Arts - Awards range from $3,000 to $13,500 per year for students majoring in art, music, or theatre. Auditions or portfolio presentations are required.

University of Evansville Leadership Activity Award - $6,500 per year scholarships for students who are active school and community leaders.

University of Evansville Trustee Scholarship - Sixty-seven percent up to full-tuition scholarships avaliable for students who are ranked number one in their senior class at the time of application.

University of Evansville Scouting Award - Students who have earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout, Girl Scouts of the USA Gold Award, or Venturing Silver Award and meet the academic criteria for admission to UE are eligible for this $13,750 annual award.

University of Georgia Foundation Fellowship and Ramsey Honors Scholarship provides a cost of attendance stipend, spring travel-study programs, travel-study grants, research and conference grants, dinner-seminars, and the opportunity to be a part of a unique community of young scholars who share a passion for learning. Hampden-Sydney College If interested in attending and applying for The Davis Fellowship - a full scholarship program see Ms. Hall. Deadline is December 15.

Jackson State University $1,000 academic scholarship to an incoming freshmen attending Jackson State from the Huntsville/Madison area. Application deadline: April 24, 2009. Students must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA, be a U.S. citizen, be avaliable for a personal interview with the selection committee (may be conducted by phone), and have required documents postmarked by April 24, 2009.

Johnson and Wales University's Chancellor's Scholarships program gives high academic achievers the opportunity to earn renewable scholarships from $7,500 to full tuition. Johnson and Wales has a distinct focus on career preparation and professional development.

Marist College, through joint effort with the National Science Foundation (NSF) is awarding 12 full scholarships (tuition, room and board) to highly talented students majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology and Systems. See Ms. Hall for additional information.

Mercer University - School of Engineering 1-3 seniors will be nominated to participate in the Engineering Scholarship Challenge at the Macon, GA campus on November 7, 2009. They plan to award $500,000 in scholarships this fall to high school seniors who are interested in Mercer"s engineering program. This event will incluse campus and engineering laboratory tours from 9-12am, followed by lunch and a short program for students and their parents. In the afternoon, students will complete the scholarship challenge from 2-4pm to help determine their aptitude for engineering as a college major. Based on the nomination, student's GPA and SAT/ACT scores, and the results of the challenge event, they plan to award full and partial scholarships to a wide range of students. University of Miami George W. Jenkins Scholarship covers the annual costs for tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, books, and personal expenses. It is valued at over $50,000 for the 2010-2011 academic year; in total, it is worth more than $200,000. University of Michigan - The Geisinger Scholarship Program will provide $20,000 in annual support to students from selected geographic areas. Scholarships will be awarded to first-year students admitted to the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for the 2010-2011 academic year. Recipients must be enrolled full-time at the University of Michigan and pursuing an undergaduate degree program in engineering. Scholarship support is awarded for four years of undergraduate study or through graduation, whichever is less; annual renewal is contingent of satisfactory academic progress and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Scholarship applications much be received no later than 5:00pm EST, 15 January 2010.

University of Mississippi - Beta Theta Pi Fraternity is offering four scholarships at $250 each for entering freshmen male students at the university of Mississippi, to be awarded in the fall of 2009. The only requirements are that each applicant be a male student with a 2.75 cumulative G.P.A. entering the University of Mississippi in the Fall 2009 semester. The due date for the scholarships is August 14, 2009.

University of Missouri-Rolla awards a $1,000 scholarship to freshmen at Rolla from this area. Contact the admissions office by e-mail admissions at umr.edu for details.

Montevallo scholarships range from $3,500 for students with a 25 ACT and minimum 3.0 GPA to the $7,000 Alumni Honors Scholarship for 2 students with at least a 3.5GPA and 30ACT. Resumes are required and for the Alumni Honors Scholarship. Students must be admitted by December 1 for the top scholarships except for the Minority Academic Recognition Scholarship and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship. See Ms. Hall for details.

Presbyterian College Academic Scholarships offers full tuition, room and board. Student requirements start at least an 1100 SAT or ACT score of 24.

The Salon Professional Academy High School Achievement Scholarship is given to qualified students who have just completed or are finishing their senior year in high school. One $2500.00 and one $1,500.00 scholarship will be awarded per high school per year. For the student to be eligible they must complete the following steps: complete the high school scholarship application, submit the most up to date high school transcripts, complete a career planning session, and submit by May 1, 2009. The Hunt Leadership Scholarship program at Southern Methodist University provides merit based full tuition scholarships to students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership. Applicants must submit one recommendation and write a special essay to be considered. See Ms. Hall for a fact sheet.

Stetson University J. Ollie Edmunds Distinguished Scholarship competition - up to two qualified students may be nominated from your school for this scholarship, valued at an estimated $155,000 over four years. Requirements: Secondary grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; Student ranking in the top 5% of the senior class; Possessing an ACT composite score of at least 30 or a minimum combined SAT-I score of 1350. See Ms. Hall if interested in being nominated. Nominations must be secured by January 22, 2010.

Texas A&M University gives approx. 300 four-year President's Endowed Scholarships and 150 four-year Lechner or McFadden Scholarships, (each valued at a total of $12,000 and $10,000 respectively) are awarded annually to incoming freshmen. Out-of-state recipients earn a non-resident tuition waiver for the duration of their scholarships. Scholarships are merit-based and are awarded without regard to financial need. Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or graduate of an accredited U.S. high school and 1300 SAT 1 or 30 ATC composite (with a min 27 English and 27 Math). Troy University offers the excellence in Leadership Award in varying amounts for students with a 22 ACT (1030 SAT combined Critical Reading and Math) and a 3.0 GPA. Students must attend a leadership seminar each semester and serve three hours per week in a leadership intern position. Application deadline is January 15. Academic awards include full tuition for a 27 ACT/1220 SAT and 3.5 GPA, to full tuition + room and board for a 31 ACT and 3.7GPA. Troy awards these scholarships on a first-come-first serve basis until funds run out.

UAB has New Freshman Academic Scholarships for students entering in fall 2009! UAB's Priority Admission date of December 1st of the senior year in high school. Students after that date will be considered for academic scholarships on a funds-avaliable basis. See Ms. Hall for additional information.

Vanderbilt University announces a new scholarship application which must be completed for all of the university merit based scholarships. Go to vanderbilt.edu. There are separate applications for the full tuition Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship; the full tuition Ingram Scholarship for commitment to community service; and the Chancellor's Scholars Program focusing on leadership and commitment to diversity and social justice. Qualified students will also be considered for other endowed scholarships on the basis of the scholarship application.

Virginia Military Institute is offering a scholarship of up to $5,000 per academic year. Must have a combined SAT of 1250 or ACT of 28, high school GPA 3.5, and in top 10% of class. See Ms. Hall if interested.

Washington University in St. Louis is looking for candidates for the Danforth Scholars Program who have exhibited a capacity for service and leadership, as well as academic excellence, and who will embrace the challenges of a rigorous academic curriculum.
